About Recruitment

Indian Railways has recently announced 4208 vacancies for Railway Protection Force Female and Male Constable positions. Many candidates have filled out their online application forms for these posts. About Exam

All eligible candidates who have filled out the online application form will be eligible to take the exam. The exam is scheduled to be conducted in the months of September and October 2018. More details about the Computer Based Test (CBT) are provided below.

Exam Pattern

The RPF Constable Exam Pattern is as follows:

  • The exam will be a Computer Based Test (CBT).
  • It will consist of multiple-choice objective type questions (MCQs).
  • There will be a total of 120 questions, each carrying one mark.
  • The question paper will comprise:
    • 35 questions on General Intelligence & Reasoning,
    • 35 questions on Arithmetic, and
    • 50 questions on General Awareness.
  • The time duration for the exam will be 01:30 hours (90 minutes).
  • Negative marking will be applicable, with 1/3 marks deducted for each incorrect answer.
NOTE: Applicants who desire to receive the question paper in a specific language should indicate their preference in the Application Form. Once a language is selected, it cannot be changed under any circumstance.
Candidates must secure a minimum of 35% marks (30% for SC and ST candidates) in the Written Examination to qualify for further tests.

Exam Syllabus

  • General Awareness: The questions in this section will assess the candidate’s understanding of the environment and its relevance to society. It will evaluate knowledge of current events, everyday observations, and experiences expected of an educated individual. The test will cover topics such as Indian History, Art & Culture, Geography, Economics, General Polity, Indian Constitution, Sports, and other general subjects.
  • Arithmetic: This section will include questions on number systems, whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and the relationship between numbers. It will cover fundamental arithmetic operations, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time and distance, and ratio and proportion, among other topics.
  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: This section will include questions on analogies, similarities, and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem-solving analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, and syllogistic reasoning, among others.

NOTE:
  1. Ex-servicemen will not be required to undergo the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
  2. PET/PMT is of a qualifying nature, and no marks will be awarded for it.

Document Verification

Candidates must present all original documents to support their educational qualifications, age, SC/ST/OBC status (where applicable, on the format prescribed in the advertisement), domicile, and any other extracurricular activities, including NCC, during the Viva-Voce and document verification process.
